Yesterday, Amit Gupta announced that he has been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia.
You may know him best as the founder of Photoojojo or Jelly. Or maybe you just saw the picture of his birthday cake from this past August that went viral. Either way, know that he is a young, intelligent man of South Asian descent who needs a bone marrow transplant. As some of you know from the story of Sameer and Vinay, the odds are not good. Currently, his chances of finding a match are only 1 in 20,000.
But hope is not lost. If you’re in New York, they’re holding an event to gather cheek swabs and donations. If you’re not, you can hold your own swab party with the help of 100k Cheeks. Or, you can simply swab your own cheek and encourage your friends (especially your South Asian friends) to swab theirs as well.
Already, the outpouring of support for Amit all over the web has been inspiring. Now, let’s turn that into action.
I’m too old. I tried contributing @ my job 10 years ago and they said no then (at age 65).
